Plitvice Lakes National Park, protected by UNESCO since 1979, is considered to be one of the most beautiful European parks. Consisted of 16 lakes which are connected by amazing waterfalls, The National Park covers the surface of 29685 ha. While visiting NP Plitvice be sure to see 78 meters high waterfall called Veliki Slap, a great attraction which is the highest waterfall in Croatia.

The Upper Lakes are a system of 12 lakes: Prošćansko, Ciginovac, Okrugljak, Batinovac, Veliko, Malo, Vir, Galovac, Milino, Gradinsko, Veliki Burget and Kozjak separated by travertine barriers. Prošćansko and the Kozjak lakes are the largest lakes with a.s.l. difference of 100m. Lakes Milanovac, Gavanovac, Kaluđerovac and Novakovića Brod belong to the Lower Lakes group, placed in a porous limestone canyon of Upper Cretaceous origin.

The best thing about the lakes walkthrough is walking through wooden paths close to the water. You can almost touch the water falls, or dive into the beautiful lakes.

There is also a great boat ride across the biggest lake called Kozjak which will give you the opportunity to experience NP Plitvice in unique and unforgettable way.
